Although the ribs on the automobile sheet metal are small, they can affect the performance of the automobile, such as NVH strength, rigidity, stamping, welding, coating, general assembly, air tightness, etc. As a designer, he should fully understand and master the positive and negative effects, and achieve a little square vector in design.

In automobile sheet metal parts, it is not necessary to make ribs everywhere, nor is it better to have ribs than to have no ribs. There are many performance requirements for automobiles. Sometimes, stiffeners can improve some performance and reduce others. If the wrong stiffener is designed in the wrong position, the performance of the vehicle will be greatly damaged. Therefore, in the design, attention should be paid to the positive and negative effects of stiffeners to avoid the wrong design. The following are the key points and precautions for the design of some bars.

When it is necessary to design stiffeners to strengthen parts, the direction of stiffeners shall be the same as the direction of stress; if local weakening is needed, the direction of stiffeners shall be perpendicular to the direction of force, such as crushing. According to the different direction of force transfer, the same stiffener plays different roles.

(2) Under the conditions of vehicle bending, single side jumping up and load, it is not suitable to make large-scale long stiffener in the high stress area, which will cause the stress concentrated around the stiffener and sheet metal cracking.

(3) The stiffener can not be used in the punching thinning area, such as the corner of spare wheel pit, with a high thinning rate. If the stiffener is added, the risk of cracking of thin sheet metal will be increased.

In addition, there are triangular reinforcement, reinforcement on the reinforcement, continuous reinforcement, etc. In fact, there are some weak parts in different shapes of stiffeners in the stamping process, which may appear wrinkle or local thinning. Therefore, if there is no great necessity, the stiffeners should not be connected with each other or too complex. Otherwise, under different structural conditions and different manufacturing processes, the complex stiffeners are more likely to crack than the simple stiffeners, which has a negative effect on the vehicle performance. In the actual design, it is not suitable to reinforce the steel plate where the reduction rate of steel plate reaches 20% or more through stamping CAE analysis.

When it is really necessary to use the cross reinforcement, it should be considered that the stress concentration is easy to occur at the intersection, and the rigidity of the intersection is weak, so the fillet transition should be designed at the intersection, and the fillet radius should be greater than twice the width of the reinforcement. In addition, when the axis of the stiffener is arc, it is easy to cause torsion during vibration. If not necessary, the axis of the stiffener should be straight.
