What is the basis of automobile sheet metal processing?
2020-05-12 11:29:40

The production of automobile sheet metal parts mainly depends on dies. In the whole cycle of design, manufacture and commissioning of model design mould, mould design, manufacture and commissioning takes about 2 / 3 of the time, which becomes the main factor restricting the transformation of automobile. This is because sheet metal stamping process is a very complex plastic forming process, many factors directly or indirectly affect the forming results.

The classical sheet metal forming theory can only analyze the sheet metal forming process of simple sheet metal parts such as bending parts and cup-shaped parts. It is powerless for sheet metal parts with complex shapes such as automobile panels. So far, the design of automobile die is mainly based on the experience and analogy of designers. Due to the lack of accurate and reliable quantitative analysis and calculation, the design and manufacture of the mold must undergo repeated pressure test and modification, sometimes even modify the design of the original product, scrap and remake the mold, and then the qualified parts can be produced.

This process leads to a huge waste of people, money, materials and time. In order to change the situation that the traditional experience and trial and error method are not suitable for the development of automobile industry, people imagine whether the stamping process can be simulated on the computer before the die is put into manufacture, that is, the designed die can be analyzed in the virtual environment. If possible, put it into manufacturing. If not, then modify the mold design, or even modify the design of the original product to redesign the mold, repeat the simulation analysis, until it is feasible to put into mold manufacturing. In this way, we can avoid the huge waste of debugging with the actual mold. This work is also called the computer aided engineering analysis (CAE) of sheet metal forming.

Under the influence of the development of automobile industry, foreign automobile manufacturers have invested heavily in this research work. With the development of the finite element technology and the continuous progress of the computer technology, the world's industrial developed countries have developed a number of forming simulation software for sheet metal forming process analysis, widely used famous software are:

(1) LS-DYNA3D software developed by Professor hallquist, Lawrence Livemore National Materials Laboratory, USA. DYNA3D is an early version of it.

(2) PAM-STAMP software of ESI company in France.

(3) Optis software of French dynamic software company. It is based on PAM-STAMP. In fact, the latter two kinds of software are also developed on the basis of DYNA3D. They all use dynamic explicit algorithms. Lawrence Livemore National Laboratory also developed ls-nike3d software using static implicit algorithm. In addition, there are deform and MARC in the United States, aform and index in Germany, itas3d in Japan, etc.
