What is the operation flow of auto body parts painting?

In case of scrape and collision accident, the owner of the car should go to the special repair shop for repair. Because the maintenance personnel there are all trained and have the standard size of professional equipment, tools and body, the structure of the car will not be damaged during the repair process. After the vehicle is repaired, check the repair quality.

Slight damage: if the scratch and collision of the vehicle are not serious, but the small dent or paint surface is damaged, pay attention to observe whether the body of the repair part of the dent is flat, whether the paint surface has cracks, shrinkage holes, poor cover, sandpaper grinding traces or the color difference between the newly sprayed paint surface and the original paint surface is too large during the inspection.

Serious collision: in addition to the above inspection of the body, it is also necessary to check whether the door, engine compartment cover and luggage compartment cover can be opened and closed freely, whether the door gaps on both sides are consistent, and whether there are any phenomena such as deviation, steering wheel shaking, body shaking and abnormal noise during the driving of the vehicle. If the tire is severely worn after driving for a period of time, it may also be caused by incomplete vehicle repair.


Automobile sheet metal parts


Many car owners have a superficial understanding of body parts and paint spraying. They think that as long as the collision vehicle is mechanically restored to shape and painted, it is OK. In fact, in the process of collision vehicle repair, the operation process of body and paint is very complex, and the maintenance technology and experience requirements of maintenance personnel are also very high. In order to let car owners understand the operation process of body and paint, this paper briefly introduces the operation process of body and paint in the body and paint competition, taking the operation specifications formulated by body and paint operators as an example.

Sheet metal operation process (local depression)

Sheet metal removal. Remove the sheet metal parts of the damaged parts of the collision vehicle from the original body by cutting, etc.

Damage identification. After cleaning the damaged parts, confirm the degree of damage, so as to establish the repair method.

Remove old paint film. Grind the original paint of the damaged part to expose the iron plate layer.

Flat sheet metal parts. According to the damage degree of the sheet metal parts, use the corresponding sheet metal tools to draw the concave parts flat. After the flattening operation, the surface of the sheet metal parts shall be precisely adjusted for flatness.

Fire collection treatment. The tensile and extrusion stresses produced in the process of metal recovering to its original shape and thickness are eliminated by fire collection, and the rigidity and strength of sheet metal parts are maintained.

Grind the feather edge. A buffer slope surface shall be polished at the connection part between the damaged part and the surrounding paint film, so that the newly sprayed paint surface can be better connected with the original paint surface.

Apply epoxy primer. Clean and degrease the polished damaged surface again, apply epoxy primer and dry it for rust prevention.

The above sheet metal operation procedures are applicable to sheet metal parts with little damage. If the car body collides seriously and injures the frame, it is necessary to rectify the whole car frame on the frame straightening machine, and the operation will be more difficult.

Painting operation process (continue the above body work process)

Scrape and apply atomic ash. After cleaning and degreasing the damaged sheet metal parts coated with epoxy primer, apply atomic ash, which is often called putty. After the atomic ash is dried, polish it and confirm the stamping line.

Apply primer during spraying. Clean and degrease after polishing with atomic ash, start to apply primer during spraying, and dry it. When applying the primer during spraying, it is necessary to cover the parts that do not need spraying.

Apply primer during grinding. Polish the primer to the same height as the original paint surface, and confirm the flatness.

Paint. Although the original factory paint is generally available in the special service shop at present, because the color of the finish paint is different from that of the original factory paint after the vehicle has been used for a long time, the paint spraying personnel are required to mix the paint manually.

Apply top coat. Add the adjusted finish paint into the spray gun tank, adjust the air pressure, paint output and spray range of the spray gun, and start to spray evenly on the sheet metal parts. The process of spraying different topcoats is also different.
