Stamping is a forming and processing method of applying external force to plate, strip, pipe and profile by press and die to produce plastic deformation or separation, so as to obtain the workpiece (stamping part) with the required shape and size. Stamping and forging belong to plastic processing (or pressure processing), which are collectively called forging. The blanks for stamping are mainly hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel plates and strips.
60 ~ 70% of the steel in the world is plate, most of which are made into finished products by stamping. Automobile body, chassis, oil tank, radiator sheet, boiler drum, container shell, iron core and silicon steel sheet of motor and electrical appliances are all stamped. There are also a large number of stamping parts in instruments, household appliances, bicycles, office machinery, household utensils and other products.
Stamping is a metal processing method. It is based on the plastic deformation of metal. It uses molds and stamping equipment to exert pressure on the sheet to make the sheet produce plastic deformation or separation, so as to obtain parts (stamping parts) with certain shape, size and performance.
With the unprecedented consensus on the importance of developing advanced manufacturing technology, stamping technology has made unprecedented progress in both depth and breadth. Its characteristic is that combined with high and new technology, automotive stamping parts begin to change greatly in methods and systems. The penetration and cross integration of computer technology, information technology, modern measurement and control technology and other stamping fields have promoted the formation and development of advanced stamping forming technology.
The stamping process can be divided into four basic processes:
Blanking: a stamping process that enables the separation of sheets (including punching, blanking, trimming, sectioning, etc.).
Bending: the stamping process of bending the sheet metal into a certain angle and shape along the bending curve.
Deep drawing: a stamping process in which flat sheet metal is changed into various open hollow parts, or the shape and size of hollow parts are further changed.
Local forming: a stamping process (including flanging, bulging, leveling and shaping) in which the shape of a blank or stamping part is changed by local deformation of different properties.
