What are the materials of commonly used sheet metal parts?
2019-10-10 11:38:02

There are many sheet metal materials suitable for stamping, which are widely used in electronic and electrical industries, including:

1. SPCC of common cold rolled sheet

SPCC refers to the continuous rolling of steel ingots by cold rolling mills into required thickness coils or sheets of steel. SPCC surface does not have any protection, and it is easy to be oxidized when exposed to air. Especially in humid environment, the oxidation speed is accelerated and dark red rust appears. The surface should be sprayed, plated or other protection when used.

2. Galvanized steel SECC

The base material of SECC is common cold rolled steel coil. After degreasing, pickling, electroplating and various post-treatment processes, the continuous galvanizing line becomes galvanized product. SECC has not only the mechanical properties and approximate processability of common cold rolled steel sheets, but also excellent corrosion resistance and decorative appearance. It has great competitiveness and substitution in the market of electronic products, household appliances and furniture. For example, SECC is currently widely used in computer chassis.

3. Hot dip galvanized steel sheet SGCC

Hot dip galvanized steel coil is a semi-finished product after hot rolling pickling or cold rolling, which is washed and annealed and immersed in a molten zinc bath at about 460 C. The steel sheet is coated with zinc, then tempered, leveled and chemically treated. SGCC material is harder, less ductile than SECC material (avoid deep drawing design), thicker zinc layer and worse weldability.

4. Stainless steel SUS301

The content of chromium is lower than SUS304 and its corrosion resistance is worse. However, it can obtain good tensile force and hardness after cold working, and has good elasticity. It is mostly used for spring and EMI protection.

5. Stainless steel SUS304

One of the most widely used stainless steels is Ni (nickel) steel, which has better corrosion resistance and heat resistance than Cr (chromium) steel. It has excellent mechanical properties, no heat treatment hardening phenomenon and no elasticity.
